Before & After - Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are custom-made shells of tooth-colored porcelain designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. These veneers are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size or length. Porcelain veneers resist staining and mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth, giving a special little sparkle to your smile.

What types of problems do traditional veneers fix? They are routinely used for:

  • Teeth that are discolored — either because of root canal treatment, stains from tetracycline or other medications, or the presence of large fillings that have discolored the tooth or are failing
  • Teeth that are worn
  • Teeth that are chipped or broken
  • Teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped
  • Teeth with gaps between them

The procedure usually requires three trips to the dentist — one for a consultation, one for the preparation with temporary veneers placed, and one to apply the porcelain veneers. One tooth or many teeth can simultaneously be prepared for veneers.

Traditional veneers are a great choice of treatment for many patients.
